Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River

morning ITINERARY along the upper delaware river

Here is the quick and dirty- We started our morning with breakfast at the Two Anglers Cafe- best breakfast on the river! Gorgeous views, delicious crepes, highly recommend for all ages! There was limited seating, but we went at 10am on Saturday and June and found a seat along the window. Across the street was a newly opened playground in Laxawaken PA- it was awesome! Highly recommend for families with kids under 10. It also had baseball diamonds, a basketball court, and tennis court. Nice little diversion for the boys after breakfast. Next up we made our way down to the Zane Grey house. The Zane Grey house was the home of the National Park Service Passport stamps which is a highlight for our crew. It also had a park ranger who was super kind and knowledgeable, along with a junior ranger badge for the Upper Delaware River and for the Junior Ranger Angler workbook. Highly recommend both!

The boys loves walking along the Roebling aqueduct and it made for quite the epic picture. On the way home we hit up the Barryville farmers market which hosted a number of local farms, live music, and artisans. They were wrapping up around 1pm, so I would plan to get there early. If you want to continue your adventure down 97, you could make a quick detour to Circle Park which is in Glen Spey NY. Great play space with very clean parks and a walking storybook trail. Continue your journey south towards Port Jervis passing Hawk’s Nest along the way. Hawks Nest offers ~ 5 pull asides which are only accessible as you head south on 97 down the winding road. Highly recommend pulling over to snap a quick picture Once you are in town, park and explore wherever you see fit. W enjoyed out meal at Katery to go they had a small area for outdoor seating but I would recommend ordering to go and taking it for a picnic nearby. We ended the night at Ben’s Fresh which has delicious ice cream- shout out to the funnel cake fries which were the highlight for my family.
